There's no way I'm buying GW2 after this. When GW first came out the promise was that the game would be aimed at 'casual players' and that grinding would not be necessary. So how exactly is a player who does not grind supposed to get a good item? Not a rare or valuable one. Let's say a Collector weapon with +30HP Fortitude and 20/20 Sundering.
If Anet's intention was to drive people out of GW and towards GW2 (I'm not paranoid enough to believe that - they're just incompetent), then they have failed. If this is their idea of a 'grind free' game (not to mention the 'vapor blade against enchanted foe' 'best AI Anet has') then I'm off, and I reckon most casual players (who, after all, make up most of GW's player base and therefore most of Anet's income) will be too. |

All this RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing E-Drama is pissing me off and I haven't even got home from work yet to see the damn thing for myself. This knee-jerk reaction raging is piss in the wind.
Just go get yourself a cup of tea, watch some telly and come back to Guild Wars in a more relaxed mood and a balanced perspective. Then, if you still feel the same, uninstall Guild Wars and go buy that copy of WoW with your name on it. Everyone will agree that you did the right thing. |

I'm sure you can do what you like, darling. |

I'm wasting my time, but some comments on Farming:
You don't need gold to play Guild Wars. Cheap greens, free collectors items will work! The super, high priced rare Golds are usually because of rare skins AND rare stats. You want FoW armor? Go to UW and FoW and get Ectos and Shard the old-fashioned way. Yeah, it's tedious, but that's the charm of FoW armor, is it not? |

Ok I have been reading the threads about the new update.
First ok WTF! All you solo farming people need to get a grip! The game was NEVER intended to be a single player game it is a MULTI PLAYER game. MULTI! as in more then one person! I know you will say well it's my choice if I want to play by myself. That is true but with the new drop rates and the way the loot scale works it will now mean I don't have to spend 900 hours looking for someone that has farmed the item when I can grab my hero's, henchies, or guildies and now have a better chance a MUCH better chance at getting the damn thing myself! Now people are saying that this will mess up the econ system in GW it will make weapons cheaper, it will make gems cheaper, SO WHAT! I am sick of all you rich ass farmers complaining that you can't solo farm anymore because now you can't make money! I am also sick of people saying they wont buy GW2 how do we even know we will need to farm in GW2? It's a different game we can't compare it to GW1 because GW2 will not be GW1 so please stop making posts about not buying GW2 because of updates and nerfs to GW1 because that is just immature and stupid. I love the new loot scale and the drop rates. I was in a group last night of 8 people and there was 6 gold and 8 purple drops in one run! THAT IS AWESOME! So stop your bitching of "Waaahhh!! I can't solo farm ANET is stupid! cry me a freaking river" Just because you can't solo farm doesn't mean the end of the damn world or the game grow up! Because here is a idea if you want to farm then go with hero's or here is a idea REAL FREAKING PEOPLE! since this is a online MULTI PLAYER game. You guys are just pissed off because now the solo farms don't get all of the goods and now everyone can farm there own greens, ectos, gems, or whatever they want and they don't need the solo farmers. So I say stop your bitching and join the game the way it was suppose to be played. If not then get the hell off of it and let the people who do enjoy playing the game and now have a better chance to get what we want and not pay OMG freaking amounts for things and the econ system will go down and back to normal in my book because it's out of control with the prices right now. So on top of that I see people bitching about well FoW armor wont mean crap anymore because everyone can farm there own ectos now. That is great! WHY COMPLAIN about it? Just because everyone now has a better chance at getting ectos and being able to get the stuff and money for it now and not have to buy it for 9k, 10k, 11k! or even more. Because I think its under fair that solo farmers before could solo and get all they want and they guys who went with real people had a MUCH lower chance of getting ectos them self. So I say THANK YOU ANET! for giving the normal players a better and much higher chance of getting what we want and for making the game more what it is about. Playing with OTHER PEOPLE! and have a fair chance of getting the items we want. Last edited by Raelin The Monk; Apr 20, 2007 at 02:12 PM // 14:12.. |

If, in two years' time I have the time to commit to another game, I might consider it. But having seen the way Anet handles both the PvP and PvE communities with GW1, I'm not sure I'd consider it over any rivals.
As for the whole farming debate.. as far as I'm concerned, PvE is purely cosmetic. It's all about flaunting your wang and saying "I have a huge wad of cash". I remember seeing some pic of Conzpi with his FoW armor and tormented weapon/shield and wondering why anyone would spend so much cash on stuff you can create for free from the "j" panel. It all depends whether you prefer PvP or PvE. Hard Mode has been the last straw for my PvE game tbh. The idea of fully clearing every area in all 3 campaigns would be tedious before, let alone with all the updated monsters. Grind is ftw? |

I'm sorry for my crappy grammar.
My post wasnt ment to bitch about farming stuff. And yes you don't really need gold to play GW. I went to kill some Roaring Ethers in The Mirror of Lyss and got a gold sycthe and a gold wand so this update isn't so bad after all. |

I'll buy it.
If you're not buying it because of such stupid reasons, you are not worthy to call yourself a GW player. |

I'll be supporting all GW products
for me, GuildWars is better balanced than the current "online alternatives" (I play WoW but prefer GW) |

I am sorry. I thought the purpose of buying Guild Wars to play through the game, not solo farm. I must be mistaken.

If you were to clear every zone for the Vanquisher titles that would merely be for the titles right? Titles are purely cosmetic and a way to flaunt your wang and say "I have a huge wad of titles" The game is still in tact and nobody will make you play in hard mode other than yourself so I completely miss your point. |

i'm a casual player and the addition of heroes was a 100% blessing for me because i HATE playing with other people. i'm almost 30 years old and i'm not into hanging out with high school kids. that's the main reason i chose GW over the other MMOs to begin with - i could hop on, grab some henchies, play for a couple hours without having to babysit my team, and be on my merry way. (guildies excluded, ofc, they are awesome) if you play online games to socialize, you may have some issues XD i do my socializing with real people - not Xx I Eat Noobs Xx the flare-packing wonder idiot who doesn't know how to use his caps lock key. anyways...back on topic. i won't be buying GW2 if it is going to be the same grindfest that GW is as of 4/19 grinding != replayability. |

If you like or can put up with all these updates anet is doing, you'll probably buy the next game. If not you won't. Simple as that.
At the moment I'm leaning towards getting GWEN but not really interested in GW2. I was debating on buying extra an PC slot or two but I'm not now because I don't think I can afford to equip them in game or buy them 3 campaigns worth of skills anymore. |

You can still solo areas. The farming nerf didn't stop that.
If you don't want to socialize with other people, you certainly don't want to trade with them. That's even worse.... (I'm also in my 30s, but I had a great time with a PUG doing Northern Wall on Hard last night). |

I don't think it will be long until all the other title tracks start to benefit players in different ways, encouraging grindfests and bots. |

I think the loot table issue will sort itself out. Playing in hard mode, I noticed more golds than usual with better mods than usual. With more overall gold drops, I think the issue of having perfect gold weapons will sort itself out. It shouldnt be an issue to take the more available good mods and slap them onto weapons.
The nerf is unfair to the people who either didnt have FOW armor (me), or a lot of banked money, but i think that the economy will sort itself out in a fair way shortly. Less gold really hurts for buying skills (newer players beware!) but new tomes ought to help a little. That said. Guild wars PvE has not been fun for me since the soul reaping nerf. I tried hard mode and it still wasnt fun. It's not that I'm not a good player, or that stuff like spiteful spirt isnt even better with faster attacking enemies... its just that my enjoyment of the game has been snuffed out while I wait for the stupid timer before I do anything. I've learned to not buy GW2 unless I start on day one. Almost all nerfs, buffs, and bonuses favor the day one players over the later players. Somebody who started with factions got the same minipets as somebody with prophecies, except that the minipets are worthless because they have been out for a year. Somebody who got FoW armor from the protective bond days, or the no-shards required days has the same FOW thats ultra expensive post nerf. So If I feel like playing GW2 on the day that it comes out, I'll get it. If I am doing something else (another game, life), I wolnt. I have mixed feelings about anet, love the simple gameplay, frustrated by annoyances like spam, really hate arrogance like the soul reaping nerf (and how they could release hard mode with a broken class in the middle of a betatest) and the conditions that caused it. |

And again what is this grindfest as of 4/19 that you speak of ? The game hasn't changed other than the fact that they added some OPTIONAL content that you and only you can choose to participate in. |
